On December 20, Sensor Tower released the top ten list of global mobile games with the highest revenue in November 2023. In November 2023, Tencent’s “Honor of Kings” topped the global mobile games revenue chart with $193 million in revenue, making it the champion for the second consecutive month. It is worth noting that the data on this list does not include revenue from third-party Android channels.
“Guerrilla: Echoes of the Starry Sky” (referred to as “Star Rail”) returned to the second place on the list. In China’s iOS market, 45.6% of its revenue came from, with 22.4% from Japan and 10.2% from the United States. On November 8, “Star Rail” released version 4.2, which updated the map and introduced new characters, boosting its revenue to second place in the revenue chart and among the top growth charts as well.
Chart of the top 10 global mobile games with the highest revenue in November 2023 / Sensor Tower
Previously, when the “Makara” expansion of “Star Rail” was in its latter stages, its revenue performance was poor, dropping out of the Sensor Tower global mobile games revenue top ten list in July and August. With the updates of the “Fleur-de-Lys” expansion, new characters entering the pool, and the remakes of popular characters, “Star Rail” returned to the top ten revenue chart in September. In September and October, it ranked 7th and 8th respectively.
Notably, “Star Rail” did not make it into the global mobile games revenue top ten list in November despite its performance in multiple awards, such as Google Play’s 2023 Best Game of the Year, App Store’s 2023 iPhone of the Year, and TGA’s 2023 Best Mobile Platform Game. This might be the game’s first time not making it into the top ten since its launch.
Earlier, there were comments that “Honor of Kings” was “falling” while “Star Rail” was “satisfied.” Some also noted that half or more of “Honor of Kings’” revenue was contributed by “Star Rail.” However, the flowchart of “Star Rail” and “Honor of Kings’” performance seems to be swinging back and forth. Unlike “Honor of Kings,” which saw a significant revenue increase in both the iOS and Google Play channels in November, “Star Rail” saw a substantial drop in its revenue in both channels. According to Sensor Tower’s store intelligence data, “Star Rail” saw a 56% decrease in revenue on the App Store channel and a 55% decrease on the Google Play channel compared to October. Meanwhile, “Honor of Kings” saw a 50% increase in revenue on the App Store channel and a 26% increase on the Google Play channel.
